Skin Cancer Screening Clinic

We offer comprehensive skin cancer checks and examine your skin thoroughly for any skins of skin abnormalities or potential melanomas.

We have two doctors, Dr Percy Arrazola and Dr Mel Cabatuando who have completed further specialised training in skin cancer detection and screening.

Both our experienced doctors are highly trained in the prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and management of skin cancer and melanoma.

What to expect during a skin check:

A skin cancer check is generally completed in a fifteen-minute session and is a simple, non-invasive process. We stress the importance of using sunscreen to protect against harmful UV rays that can lead to sunburn, rash, or skin irritation, ultimately minimising the risk of skin cancer development.

During skin checks, a doctor will examine your skin under a magnifying lamp and/or a hand-held skin microscope called a dermatoscope, recording any spots of interest. This close inspection allows for detailed monitoring of existing lesions and early detection of unusual moles.

Treatment is usually simple, such as a skin biopsy or cryotherapy, and will be performed during the session. For any more complex surgical excision, you will be scheduled for a separate appointment.

We respect your privacy, and most skin checks will be performed with underwear on as parts of the body, such as breasts, genitals, and buttocks, are not examined regularly. However, if you believe you may have a suspicious spot in one of these areas, you may request to have it examined as a part of your skin cancer check.

Fees are associated with our skin cancer screening clinics please contact us for further details.

Fees

Our doctors believe in providing the highest quality in patient care without compromise and as such Medical on Mary is a private billing medical centre and payment is required on the day.

We accept Cash, EFTPOS and credit card payments, and we are able to transfer your receipt electronically to Medicare so that you receive your rebate directly back into your bank account. Please ask our staff for more information on this. In some consultations, there may be additional fees for procedures such as ECGs, respiratory function tests, Implanon insertions/removals and surgical procedures.

Our fees periodically change due to inflation and the ever-rising costs incurred to small businesses. Because of this, we keep our fees update on brochures in the clinic and are more than happy to answer any queries via the phone or email.

We BULK BILL all children under 16 years and under.

Medical on Mary uses new technology in our consultations. The smart scribe is an AI tool that assists us during your visit by helping the doctor with capturing clinical notes based on our conversations during the consultation. This tool allows us to focus on you!

Smart Scribe AI Tool

The Smart Scribe is integrated into this secure system. Your clinician will start their AI Scribe and begin the consultation. After the visit is done, the AI Scribe will summarize the visit into clinical notes. These notes are reviewed and can be edited by your clinician. Once approved, these notes securely insert into your health record. The transcription is completely deleted once the notes are reviewed and approved. No data is captured, stored, or used for training purposes.
